In Loving Memory of Richard A. Mason
September 19, 1952 – July 23, 2025
Richard “Ric” Mason was a kind, generous, and deeply loyal soul whose love for music, people, and life left an enduring mark on everyone lucky enough to know him.
Born in California and raised in Woodland Hills, Ric’s passion for audio began early and became a lifelong pursuit. Whether he was building a high-fidelity sound system or sharing the perfect track at just the right moment, music wasn’t just something he loved—it was the way he connected with the world. He spent his career in audio equipment sales and later in automobiles, but Ric’s true gift was building relationships. He stayed connected to lifelong friends from high school, colleagues from the audio world, and people he met along the way. Ric was the kind of friend who showed up, stayed present, and never let go. Ric also had a deep love for motorcycles—especially his Harley-Davidsons and Triumphs. He wasn’t a
passenger in life; he took the handlebars. Whether cruising California highways, taking road trips to other states, or winding through the canyons on the way to the ocean, Ric found joy and freedom in every ride. The road was his sanctuary, and motorcycles were part of his identity. At home, Ric found comfort in the quiet companionship of his beloved cats, especially Brownie, who held a special place in his heart. He also had a soft spot for rescuing kittens, often offering them a second chance and a loving home. Ric's kindness extended to the smallest creatures, and they, too, felt his care.
He was also a devoted Los Angeles Dodgers fan—he watched every game, win or lose, with the loyalty only a true fan could understand. In Ric’s final months, his sisters Victoria Mason Murray and Kimberly Quist lovingly cared for him full time, surrounding him with comfort, dignity, and unwavering devotion. Their presence was a reflection of the deep bond they shared with their brother throughout his life. He is also survived by his sister Christina Mason Mackrill. Ric will be remembered for his gentle heart, his warmth, his loyalty, and the steady way he cared for those around him. His laughter, presence, and music will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him. Ride free, Ric. Your spirit lives on
