Mary Jane Brogan

Mary Jane Brogan, age 83, of Oxnard, California, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on May 24, 1943, in Junction City, Kentucky to Thomas and Stella Johns. She lived a life marked by kindness, devotion to family, and a quiet strength. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She married the love of her life, William Brogan, on April 15, 1978, and spent almost 40 years building a life together.

Mary was an avid bowler who regularly participated in multiple leagues at once and traveled to numerous state tournaments, where she enjoyed both the competition and the friendships she made along the way. She was also incredibly talented and creative, with a gift for arts and crafts. There was not a project she wouldn’t try — and master. Her home is filled with the many beautiful pieces she created over the years, each one a reflection of her patience, skill, and love for making something special with her own hands.

Mary is survived by her children Kathy Fair (Edward), Johnny Fair (Karen), Otha Fair, Michael Fair (Zoie), Jennifer Brogan, sister Lucille Durham (Richard) and brother Tony Johns (Penny) along with numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband William Brogan, parents Thomas and Stella Johns, son Travis Gordon Fair and siblings Ella Mae Manning, Thomas “Sonny” Johns, Grover Johns, Lowell Johns, Donald Johns, and Bobby Johns.

Mary will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, daughter, and sister, and above all, as a fiercely loving mother whose children were her greatest priority. She loved deeply, protected wholeheartedly, and would have done anything for those she held dear.

Visitation will be at her home on Monday, July 6 from 6:00-8:00 PM and graveside service for family will be at Santa Clara Cemetery Tuesday, July 7 at 11:00 AM.
