Maria de Jesus Martin, age 69, passed away unexpectedly March 15, 2023. She was born August 20, 1953 in Jalisco, Mexico to Antonio Arana Mendoza and Nicolasa Ruiz. She married Juan Martin Abundis on September 23,1974 in her hometown of Zapotlanejo, Jalisco, Mexico. She lived in Santa Paula, Ventura and settled down in Oxnard, California.

Maria was an excellent cook. She loved cooking for her whole family. Her specialty was birria and homemade salsas. Music, dancing, singing and enjoying the beauty of her garden were her other passions.  Always ready to leave the house in her flowy long dresses, boots, and hat.  You can hear her laughing and joking with anyone she talked to. While riding in the car with her, you would hear random bouts of singing as she blasted her favorite songs! She became a child herself when she was around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was one of the strongest and hardest working women we know. She worked for Saticoy Lemon Association for over 30 years. She retired from the Ventura Plant.

Maria is survived by her husband of almost 49 years, Juan Martin and her children: Maricela (Esequiel), Elizabeth, Juan Carlos Jr., Araceli (Jeremy), Sergio, Humberto and Gisela. Her grandchildren: Michael Anthony (Lorena), Alexis Renee, Angel (Jasmine), Noah, Daniel, Jordan, Levi and Aliyana. Her great grandchildren: Camila Marie, Selena June, Angel Jr. (Jojo), Emilia Luna, Leilani Rose and unborn baby girl. Many extended family members as well.

She is preceded in death by her parents, several siblings and granddaughter Katalyna Zyanya.
