Maria 'Chila' Zavala, aged 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 27, 2024, in Denver, Colorado. She was born, raised, and spent much of her life in Oxnard, California. A devout Catholic, Maria was deeply involved in her church community, embodying her faith in her daily actions and interactions. She volunteered as an usher at St. Anthony's Church and was known for her generosity, always giving her time and resources to those in need.
Maria was a strong woman and a true matriarch of the Zavala family, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and unity. She was blessed with a large and loving family, including two sons, Richard and Mark, and two daughters’-in-law, Uvon and Michelle, who along with her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, will cherish her memory. Maria was a pillar of strength and joy for her family, and her guidance and love profoundly shaped the lives of each family member.
Beyond her family, Maria enjoyed spending time with her wide circle of friends, many of whom shared her enthusiasm for occasional trips to the casino. These outings were a testament to her love for vibrant social gatherings and the joy she found in being surrounded by friends.
Maria's legacy is marked by her unwavering faith, her dedication to her family, and her ability to bring joy and laughter to those around her. As we say goodbye, we also express gratitude for the full life she lived and the countless ways she enriched our lives.
The Zavala family will hold a funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church in Oxnard on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at noon. Maria's spirit and love will forever be in our hearts
