Margaret Covarrubias Nava

Margaret “Peggy” Covarrubias Nava beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend age 87 of Oxnard, CA went to be with our heavenly father the early morning of October 20, 2025. She passed away at home surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with cancer and other health illnesses. May she rest in peace and be free of pain.  

Peggy was born on September 8, 1938 in Somis CA, the 9th of 13 children born to Jesus & Inez Balades.  

Peggy’s love for her family and friends was shown by her welcoming hospitality and open arms as she appreciated visits from everyone. She was a great cook and baker. She enjoyed spending time in her kitchen baking her favorite desserts and sharing them with all of us.  If she wasn't in the kitchen, she would be in her yard caring for her plants and her fruit trees and ensured everyone left with avocados, apples, and oranges.  

She was a member of Santa Clara Chapel and a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed camping, road trips to their cabin in Pine Mountain, CA and traveling to Laughlin with her late husband Raul.  

Peggy is now reunited with her husband of 43 years Raul Nava, two sons Timothy Nava, Kenneth Nava, grandson Paul Andrew Nava and great granddaughter Aliyah Holderby.  

Peggy is survived by her daughter Marlene Nava Juarez, daughter in law Lorraine Nava, loving grandmother to five grandchildren, Desiree Robertson (Alan Robertson), Denise Holderby, Alyssa Nava, Bryan Nava, Eric Nava and nine great grandchildren, Jacob Holderby, Mariah Smith, Aaron Smith, Sebastian Holderby, William Nava, Riley Holderby, Connor Holderby, David Robertson and Andrea Nava. Her three sisters Helen Torres, Virginia Valenzuela, Susan Balades, and numerous nieces and nephews who all sadly miss her.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 12:00 by Camino del Sol Funeral Home at Santa Clara Cemetery 2370 North H Street, Oxnard
