Lucy Ontiveros, 95, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ while being surrounded by family on October 16, 2024.
Born in West Los Angeles she was the second daughter of six children to Victor and Antonia Gonzales. Lucy married the love of her life, Froylan Ontiveros on October 4, 1948 in Ventura, California. They were together until his passing in 2010, making 67 long, loving years together.
Though born in Sawtelle (West LA) her family moved to Ventura when she was young, to be close to her grandmother. Lucy grew up in the historic Tortilla Flats neighbourhood and attended Holy Cross School. She met Froylan at a dance when they were 15 years old. They dated for a few years before getting married in 1948. Together they had 8 children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother as well as a devoted Christian. Lucy would pray for anyone who asked for or needed prayer. Those prayers will be missed greatly.
Lucy loved birds and flowers. She had large walk-in cages where she kept and bred canaries. Their singing was a joy of hers. Her garden was always full of roses and inside her home were her precious orchids.
Lucy is preceded in death by her husband Froylan, her parents (Antonia and Victor), brother (Rudy Gonzales), sisters (Vera Gutierrez, Juanita Melendez, Lupe Gonzalez, and Esther Hanks), and children (Froylan Jr, Howard, Dora, Daniel).
She is survived by her sons; Steve Ontiveros, Walter Ontiveros (Eva), daughters; Alice (Austin), Rachel (Stan), and grandchildren: Howard Jr., Rebecca, Steven, Johnny, Tony, Brandon, Reesa, Angelina, Roxanna, Lucy, Bobby, Rachel, Nichole, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Her love for her family and her Saviour will live on in those that knew and loved her. We are blessed to have had such a beautifully strong mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. We will miss her immensely.
Service will be held at Camino del Sol on November 5, 2024 at 11AM. Burial will be followed at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park at 1PM.
