Louie "Tiny" Patino

Louie “Tiny” Patino, born on November 26, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, passed away on September 15, 2025 in Oxnard, CA after a brief illness.  He was 83 years old. 

Tiny was well known and deeply respected in his community, especially in the world of boxing, from the 1970s through the late 1990s, he dedicated himself to coaching, mentoring, and building a future for young athletes.  He first started his own gym on Squires Drive and later founded Oxnard Boxing Gym, where he became a guiding force for countless youth. Through boxing, he took boys off the streets, teaching them not only the sport but also discipline, respect and perseverance.  His influence shaped lives far beyond the ring, leaving a legacy of strength and hope in the community he loved. 

Outside of the gym, Tiny cherished time with his family. He loved dancing, playing, and listening to music, filling gatherings with joy and laughter.  His presence was a source of happiness, and his love for family shone through in everything he did. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Irene Patino, with whom he shared a loving life and family. 

Louie is survived by sister, Barbara Rasalyn, and his children, Vicky Patino, Louie Patino Jr., Dora Patino, Valerie Patino, Emily Patino, Pamela Patino, Lorraine Patino and Nicole Patino.  He was also blessed with 24 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren all of whom will carry his memory forward with love and pride. 

A prayer service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 7:00 p.m., at Camino del Sol Funeral Home, 200 North C Street, Oxnard.

A celebration of life will follow on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 11:00 p.m., where family and friends will gather to honor and remember him.
