Lilian Ranck Obituary

Lilian Severino Ranck, age 95, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, in Oxnard, California,

surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 1, 1931, in Binondo, Philippines, to Teofila Severino and George Ranck.

Lilian was the fifth of six children and the last surviving sibling, preceded by Alfredo, Mary,

Charlie, Helen, and Ricardo. During World War II, she spent much of her childhood separated

from immediate family, traveling between Arayat and Manila. Even at a young age, her

adventurous spirit and vibrant personality were unmistakable. A true social butterfly, she found

great joy in entertaining family and friends.

Lilian had a remarkable gift for connection—age was never a barrier in her friendships. She

remained close to her nieces and nephews, often spending time with them, sharing stories, and

staying engaged in their lives up until her final days.

Her relationship with Felixberto Gertes was blessed with four children: Leonora, Ramon, Carla

(Caycay), and Carina.

She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, including playing mahjong sometimes with her

great grandchildren and bingo, and reading her favorite magazine, the National Enquirer. She

also enjoyed watching Filipino television programs and took great pride in feeding and caring for

those around her.

In 1980, Lilian moved to California to live with her daughter Carla (Caycay) and her family in

Oxnard, where she remained for the rest of her life, aside from a six-month period working

aboard a fishing vessel in Alaska.

She treasured a healing stone given to her by her eldest daughter, Nora, and cherished visits with

her only son, Monching, and his family in Adelanto. Her youngest daughter also resides in

Oxnard, allowing them to remain close.

Lilian worked as an assembler for an electronics company before retiring. She was known for her

generosity and deep devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly

and proudly supported in their accomplishments.

Lilian is survived by her four children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She

will be remembered for her lively spirit, her love of family, and the warmth she brought into

every room.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, June 26, at 10:00 AM at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic

Church, located at 463 W. Pleasant Valley Road in Oxnard, California. Burial will follow at
