Jerrie Thomas Obituary

In the fall of 1965 God had a baby girl come forth at Belinda hospital in Port Hueneme. She was blessed to

be called Jerrie Belinda Thomas. Growing up in Oxnard, Jerrie attended Juanita Elementary School,

Fremont Jr. High School and graduated from Oxnard High School High School. In High School, Jerrie

demonstrated her athletic vigor by playing basketball. After being injured with a twisted ankle, Jerrie

became an excellent statistician. Her intellectual abilities were demonstrated by her enjoyment of

challenging others to play chess. Greatness was acknowledged in Jerrie’s efforts because she was chosen

to be an Upward Bound participant. So needed in this day and time, but more so when Jerrie was sixteen,

which is when she received her Driver’s License.

Her employment opportunities began through Upward Bound but Jerrie has her goals set on more

challenging career opportunities. She began exploring employment by accepting position at Tandem

Magnum. She worked at getting a higher grade license which was necessary for driving the bus to transport

clientele for various necessary appointments. While working for West Coast Paratransit Inc., Company.

She took the opportunity to share job openings with others.

Jerrie was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at the Tried Stone Church of God in Christ as a teenager

under the leadership of Elder C.L. Qualls. Sister Jerrie began her early life being dropped off at Sunday

School or walking with her sisters and brothers up Bonita Street. As a believer living in the power of prayer

she was faithful to both Sunday School and YPWW (Young People Willing Workers). She along with other

youth was faithfully attended the 9:00 a.m. prayer at Tried Stone Church of God in Christ. She was faithful

to participate in all of the youth activities. As a part of the youth church she was a Junior Evangelist, a

speaker during youth church on Friday nights, choir member and a junior usher. She also served on the

Junior Deaconess Board, where she was required to learn the Doctrines of the Church of God in Christ,

along in assisting at the time of funerals, baptisms or christenings. She participated in the administration of

the Lord’s Supper (communion service) and the washing of feet. She kept a smile on her face and a willing

heart to assist where needed. She worked to study the Word of God.

Jerrie was a student of Martial Arts. She achieved a green belt “but was a black belt at heart’. She

travelled across the United States with her God-daughter Chloe, who is now a black belt, for Martial Arts

competitions with the Ramirez Brothers. The entire Tae Kwon Do community knows her as Auntie Jerrie.

She was an avid reader and listener to books. Jerrie was a babysitter for some of her nieces and nephews

but she had a special love for her two Godchildren, Chloe and David. Jerrie loved her brothers and sisters.

She often would tenderly share the importance of establishing a relationship with Christ. Her

encouragement was real and heart-felt. To relax, she loved to go fishing, travel, play games, watch Anime

and cooking from old, new and self created recipes. She took pride in being Vegan and had her goddaughter cooking special  meals, especially meatless meatloaf with gravy. The food was delicious! Jerrie was doing DIY before it became popular on television. She aid tile, applied drywall, painted, hang doors, put in windows and

worked with electrical. Jerrie Thomas was also a seeker of Higher Education. She worked and received

certification in many areas of Business Administration. Her goal and desire was to open her own Tax

Business. She was hired as the Administrator over a Youth Group Home. She strove to be an entrepreneur

(her own boss). She was preparing her house to have offices off of the family room patio area.

Jerrie Belinda Thomas loved holiness and righteousness and is blessed to have missionaries and

preachers in her lineage. Preceding her in her May 24, 2023 flight was her grandmother, mother and aunt;
