Jason Anthony Ortega (Jay) 50 years old of La Verne, California passed on November 7th, 2023. Born March 2nd, 1973, in Ventura County California; he was a father, a son, a brother, an uncle, grandson, nephew, and friend.
When Jay was younger, he would take his little sister to Port Hueneme beach where he taught her how to fish and swim in the ocean. Two of his favorite things to do!
He loved riding his bike around town all day, where he’d only stopped to play in the ocean, get shrimp cocktail, pigs’ feet, and chips from the local liquor stores. He also loved playing sports when he was young and LOVED the deep-fried burritos from the snack bars.
Since he was young, he loved all things Military! He was fascinated with stories our Grandpa Henry Ortega would tell him from the time he served in World War ll. So, after high school Jason enlisted with the US Army, became an Army Ranger, and after joined the National Guard.
In his older age Jay loved to build Koi ponds, grow chilies and barbecue. He also loved going on adventures with his fiancé to the mountains for hikes, going on wine tasting trips, listening to local bands, and as always going to the beach. The ocean always called him back. Especially any of them in Ventura County.
Jason is predeceased by his son Jason Anthony Ortega Jr, his father Daniel Dominguez, his grandmother Anita Hill, his grandfather Ramon Castillo, and his cousin Isadora Ayala.
