Helen Jane Couch

 Helen Jane Couch was born on December 2, 1947 to her mother Ethel Lee Carter in Shreveport, Louisiana.  She was the first of nine children.  She attended elementary school, junior high school and high school in Shreveport. Helen was blessed to complete some college courses in the nursing field at Oxnard College.   She worked as a nurse for approximately 5 years.

Helen lived in San Diego for more than 10 years before she moved and settled in Oxnard, California in 1965. She was blessed to have 5 children, whose names are Cynthia Neal (deceased); Kenny Neal, Shelia Boyd-Drew, Dwayne Neal and Mark Neal.

Helen did many things in her free time. Helen loved playing dominoes. When she wasn’t playing dominoes one could find Helen playing any one of many card games. Helen remained active in the community. Helen Jane enjoyed spending time with her children at different family barbecues and outings. She was able to travel across the country to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Helen Jane Couch transitioned peacefully to be in the arms of Jesus February 19, 2021. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Neal; her mother, Ethel Lee Carter, Diane Couch, her sister, Mary Carter and her brothers, Tommy Carter, Robert (Cuter) Carter and Roy Carter.

Family members remaining cherishing the precious times of her life are her children, Kenny Neal of San Diego, Shelia Boyd-Drew of Bakersfield, Dwayne Neal of Oxnard and Mark Neal of San Diego; her sisters, Gloria Riodan, Frances Carter, of Oxnard; and her brother, John Carter of Oxnard, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services for Helen Jane Couch will be Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Camino Del Sol Memorial Center and Funeral Home. Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. The Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 a.m.
