Greg Cooper passed away peacefully at home on the morning of March 18, 2022. Greg’s life on this earth was defined by love, service, constancy and rising above obstacles. He is survived by his beloved partner Elizabeth Alvarez, his children Kimberly and Greg , daughter-in-law Tiffany, his stepdaughters Caitlin, Bretagne, and Bailey, his grandchildren Meghan, Justin, Abby and Emma, and many friends and family members. In the last few months, Greg had the opportunity to spend time with so many of his loved ones, especially his children, grandchildren, and stepdaughters.
Greg was born in Los Angeles on January 10, 1954, and was always a very proud Angeleno, growing up in a house in Echo Park that his grandfather had built with his own hands. Whether he was attending games at Dodger Stadium, getting french dip at Philippe’s or slippery shrimp at Yang Chow, or showing people around his favorite neighborhoods, Greg loved his city and its history and culture.
For the last four and a half years, Greg realized his dream of living at the beach. He paused most evenings to watch the sunset over the Pacific from the balcony of his and Elizabeth’s home in Port Hueneme.
Greg was a stalwart member of Narcotics Anonymous, and his recovery and service served as an example and inspiration to many.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents Kathleen Falsetta and John Ryan, parents-in-law Charles and Patricia Alvarez, and his biological father Herman Cooper.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 4, 11 am, at Camino del Sol, Oxnard,
