Gail Maureen Skidmore

Gail Maureen (Gojkovich) Skidmore, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at age 74.

Gail was born on December 19, 1948, in Oxnard, CA to Chris and Mary Jane (Williams) Gojkovich. She graduated from Hueneme High School in 1967. Marrying her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Skidmore, in 1967, she followed him to Europe where he was stationed in the United States Army. The couple shared many adventures and friendships while living in Bamberg, Germany for two years. They raised two sons, Donovan and John (JT), living at the beach in Oxnard, CA and actively supporting their many sports; football, BMX racing, track, and shooting. Gail enjoyed camping and jeep trips, traveling to the beach and desert with her family and their dog, Boda. She remained very close with her 7 brothers and sisters and their families, going on cruises, celebrating holidays, hosting poker nights, and participating in Sunday Facetime chats in later years.

Gail worked as a real estate agent for Century 21 for over 20 years. She achieved outstanding sales, earning her membership in the prestigious Million Dollar Club in real estate for five consecutive years. She had a talent for crafting and scrapbooking, gifting her family with a lifetime of memories in pictures and albums. She enjoyed browsing the Home Shopping Network, so much so that her family lovingly joked the QVC hosts knew her by name. Gail could often be found in the kitchen baking for birthdays and holidays and always had a pot of beans cooking on the stove. Gail is best remembered for her deep love of her family, her infectious laugh, and her generous and caring nature.

Gail was preceded in death by her father, Chris Gojkovich, her mother, Mary Jane Tate, her step-father, John Tate, and her brothers Michael Gojkovich and John David Gojkovich. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bill Skidmore, her two sons, Donovan (Christina) Skidmore and JT (Kari) Skidmore, three granddaughters, Alexis Skidmore, Jessica Mckeown-Skidmore, and Shea Skidmore, one great-grandchild, five sisters and brothers, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Camino del Sol Funeral Home at 200 North C Street in Oxnard, CA, at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 4684 Saviers Road, Oxnard, CA. Flowers may be sent to Camino del Sol Funeral Home in Oxnard, CA, or memorial contributions made to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA).
