With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edward Velasquez who peacefully departed on June 14 at the age of 77.
Edward was born in Salinas, California, to Jovita Botello and Emmeterio Velasquez, he was the eldest of three children. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, including service during the Vietnam era, and continued serving in the Marine Corps Reserves. Following his military service, he worked as a semi-truck driver with Hijl Bros. for many years.
On September 18, 1971, he married the love of his life, Pauline Mesa, beginning a marriage built on love, commitment, and family. Together they were blessed with three children: Veronica Zamora, Frances Velasquez, and Paul Edward Velasquez. He was also a proud grandfather to Edith Zamora and Kevin Zamora, who brought him immense joy.
Family was the center of his life. He cherished every moment spent as a father and grandfather and enjoyed creating lasting memories with those he loved. In his free time, he loved working on mechanics, barbecuing, watching alien documentaries and wrestling, taking care of his yard, exploring new restaurants, trying different foods, and visiting coffee shops with his children. He also enjoyed relaxing trips to the beach, shopping, sharing snacks, and catching up with neighbors and friends. His warm personality, sense of humor, and love for spending time with others will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pauline.
Edward is survived by his children, grandchildren, extended family, and many friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.
His legacy of love, service, hard work, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
