Our beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, David N. Parra, gained his wings on the morning of September 23, 2023. David was born on September 25, 1951 in Ventura to the union of Ralph and Margaret Navarro Parra. At the age of 6 months, David contracted spinal meningitis which caused a lifelong intellectual and developmental disability which kept him young in mind and heart.

David enjoyed time with his family and was always so excited to see someone he hadn’t seen in a while, always lighting up with a smile and extending a firm handshake. He enjoyed listening to oldies but goodies, watching his favorite television shows and drinking coffee. David loved the holidays, especially Christmas and his birthday. He would beam with pride and joy when the Happy Birthday song was sung to him. He so looked forward to his birthday that he would ask whether we were planning on getting him presents and having a party for him on his birthday, even if it was months away. David attended the Arc School of Ventura County for many years and made many friends and memories there. We are very appreciative and grateful to the Arc School and to all the medical professionals who assisted David throughout the years.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Margaret Navarro Parra, brothers, Ralph Jr., Frank, Raymond and Mike Parra. He is survived by his siblings, Margaret Parra, Sam Parra, Josie and Mary, as well and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for David will be held on October 7th 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at “CHURCH 4610,” located at 162 N. Ventura Road in Port Hueneme. Services will be officiated by our nephew, Pastor Reymundo Parra. A celebration of life reception will be held at the church following the service. Rest in peace, David. You will definitely be missed by all.
