Charlotte Mark Obituary

Friends, family and neighbors, Charlotte Ann Proctor Mark passed into the light and the spiritual Realm on Thursday, March 26, 2026. Charlotte was a woman that brought to the table a well-diversified wisdom based upon her exposure and experience within the Cherokee Indian Nation community. Always striving to expand her wealth of experience in photography, having a dark room for over 35 years, Charlotte’s vast experience in Property Management working for the Damavante Corporation and helping manage properties developed and owned by the Mark family. Charlotte was the face of Mark Motors for 17 years as the office Manager of the family owned and operated business. Her renowned people’s skills, business talents, and willingness to always think outside the box, brought to the family and the community her exceptional talents applied in every facet of her daily life!

For those fortunate enough to have Charlotte touch their lives, remaining open and willing to accept and benefit from her wisdom, experience and influence, know that her gentle, kindhearted, stern at times no-nonsense guidance was some of the most applicable knowledge one could receive. Those who remain open will continue to benefit from her spiritual and practical wisdom and guidance throughout their lives.

When Charlotte and Clifford’s dating adventures through Clifford’s college years ended, their lifelong adventures began. Clifford graduated from Colorado School of Mines, they then married at a very young age, Charlotte at 17 years old and Clifford at 28 years old and then moved to the Andes Mountain Range to Serra De Pasco Peru. Charlotte supported Clifford as the Chief Geologist in charge of a rare minerals mining operation. Even though Charlotte said she spent the first two years of their marriage with altitude sickness, and never did acclimate, she loved and supported Clifford throughout their marriage and was very happy to move back to the United States after two years to the lower altitudes. Thereafter, Charlotte maintained and ran the household which included their four children while Clifford traveled the world as Manager of Worldwide Exploration for Cypress Mines Corporation.

We will be holding a private family traditional Cherokee celebration of life in the Southern California Colorado Desert, which Charlotte learned to love so passionately through her love and life with Clifford as a Geologist over the years. We will also be holding a Celebration of Life Ceremony at Sea for Charlotte who loved the ocean so dearly. This ceremony will be for notified friends and family. As Cherokee does, her body remained undisturbed for the minimum of the traditional three days to complete the Spiritual separation. She will be cremated so we may fulfill her wishes, since the Traditional Funeral Pyre Ritual is not only impractical, it is illegal in a vast majority of these United States. Charlotte’s body and Spirit will then be recycled into Universal Life. As the saying goes, the next time that Lizard winks at you, you never know!

Charlotte was pre-deceased by her husband Clifford, her second-born son Larry, her daughter Yvonne (Grant), and her first-born son Robert. Charlotte is survived by her third-born son Daniel (Vicki) and her fourth-born son David, three grandchildren, Clayton, Erin (Phil) and Ryan (Malinda), and four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Evan, Russell and Emily.

Charlotte will always be fondly remembered for her larger-than-life personality, striking beauty inside and out, loving kindness, generous nature, hospitality, quick wit and sense of humor. She was always a Mother Kodiak Bear that watched over every cub in her sight with her torrentially forceful nature, when needed. She will forever be cherished and missed.
