Obituary

Carlton Dante Harper

“Siblings by birth, friends by choice, together in spirit always" — Anonymous

January 8, 1984 brought to the world a quiet, peculiar, peaceful soul, Carlton, affectionately called “Dante” or “Tiny Bo” the oldest of four siblings, and a beloved son born to Cynthia Bryant and Carlton Harper in Ventura, California. Dante attended elementary school at Hueneme Elementary, junior high at Fremont and graduated from Oxnard High School. He resided in Oxnard, California and was a Ventura County resident most of his life with intermittent travels and adventures.

He truly had a gift and wit that just worked with people; he was fond of traveling and loved trying new food. Taking road trips and sharing laughs was one of his greatest joys. Dante was a real go-getter. Although he comes from a huge family, he enjoyed his alone time. So it seems fitting that he became an entrepreneur.  He always gave everyone that extra nudge or push they needed. Everyone’s life was brighter having known him. He was always good at making us laugh. While dropping some wisdom, witty should have been his middle name. We were lucky to have him. He was always about procuring and securing and believed his achievements could always be bigger. Dante was fearless in his pursuits.

He accomplished a great deal in his span on earth. Dante had his own business in the clothing industry with a specialized Brand called “Movers and Shakers”. With the slogan “keep going, you’re almost there,” Dante reached Maryland, Arizona, Washington, and of course California. Although the business being a great achievement, that wasn’t his greatest Joy Dante had one beautiful daughter who he cherished she was his pride and Joy. She truly brought out a side of him that was admirable to see. In his adolescent years Dante worked at Nautica. As an adult, he was an independent operator. He was excellent. To know Dante was to love him. He will be missed. He was a loyal friend, a devoted son, brother, cousin, and an inspiration to us all. His light was too bright to be dimmed by time. He lived more in 42 years than many do in a lifetime. His passion for success was matched only by his love for his friends and family. Though his time was short, his impact was profound.

Dante transitioned from this life on March 17, 2026.  He was preceded in transition by Mother Ivery L. Bryant (great-grandmother), Sister Jessie M. Bryant (grandmother), Sister Carrie M. Thomas (aunt), father, Carlton D. Harper, Sr., Missionary Carol Andrews (aunt), Sister Jerrie Thomas (aunt), and Joseph White (cousin). He leaves to cherish precious memories of his life here on earth his mother Cynthia Bryant Lee (stepfather, Jacques Lee, deceased), daughter Kiana Pratt of Spokane, Washington; three sisters, Michelle Harper, Symetria Lee Rodriguez of Oxnard, Sharice Lee, of Moorpark. one brother, Jamal Harper of Oxnard, his aunts, Sandra Daniel (Harold), Sylvia Brown (David), Regina Sawyers of Oregon, Ivery Simon Bryant (Murphy) of Oxnard; uncles, Keith Allen of Oxnard, Thomas Allen (Janice) of Stockton, sister, Symetria, daughter, Gabrielle Rodriguez (niece) and son, Dominic Rodriguez (nephew); sister, Sharice, Anaya and Aminah (nieces) and son, Stephen (nephew),  brother Jamal's three girls, Kiana Harper, Kamila Harper, Kassidy Harper (nieces) and an abundance of cousins, aunts and uncles who will greatly miss him.
