Benjamin John Herrera

With profound sadness Benjamin John Herrera Jr., beloved husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend passed away of natural causes at 84 on Monday, March 20, 2023 in the comfort of his home. Ben was born in Oxnard to Benjamin Sr. and Guadalupe Herrera. Ben was raised in Oxnard attending Santa Clara High School.

He leaves behind his wife of 62 years -Yolanda. Their three sons - Rudy, Jorge, Javier, and daughter Yolette. Daughters-in-law Beatriz, Lorraine, Chely and son-in-law Tino. Seven granddaughters Belen, Nathalie, Julieta, Camilla, Yasmine, Dahlia, and Victoria. Four grandsons Diego, Tyler, Alex, and Eric. Three great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Ailey, and Liam. Siblings Bob, Carlos, Manuel, and Maria. Ben was a very successful entrepreneur having started many businesses including Ben’s Market, Ben’s Laundromat and El Camino Real Liquor. His hard work, success, and dedication were not unnoticed.

He became an inspiration and role model to those around him. Ben touched many people's lives and was a very generous man, often helping those in need. Ben lived his life to the fullest. When Ben retired he and Yolanda traveled worldwide. One of the highlights of his travels included visiting the Vatican. Ben and Yolanda had the honor of meeting Pope John Paul II and the Pope renewed Ben and Yolanda’s marriage vows. Ben’s other pastimes included cooking his favorite meals and he was also a car enthusiast who loved Cadillacs. When it came time for Ben to settle at home- one of his greatest joys was watching some of his favorite classic films, attending church and spending time with friends, family and his dog Cleo.

Ben is now at peace in heaven joining his father, mother and beloved brother Ruben. Ben will be missed and forever in our hearts. The Herrera Family now has a guardian angel watching over them.
