In Loving Memory of
Dorothy Miranda Gonzales
The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning that God
Was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone;
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
Your love is still our guide;
And though we can not see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same;
But as God calls us one by one,
The Chain will link again.
Our Lord called Mom home on Saturday, March 6, 2010. She passed peacefully at home where she could be with her family. Mom was one of nine children born to Eduardo and Edna Miranda-Gonzales in Oxnard on May 26, 1926. She was very proud to share that her family was the pioneer family that “Gonzales Road” in Oxnard is named after. Mom’s favorite pastimes was shopping regularly at estate sales, visiting Whiskey Pete’s and Chumash casinos, visiting with family and friends, and most of all caring for her Great Grandchildren.
Preceding Mom in death were her parents Edna and Eduardo, sisters Chita, Vera, Edna, and Sara, brothers Johnny, Arthur, Freddie and Edward, her husband John Gonzales and her two beloved sons, Paul Jr. and Arthur Gomez. She is survived by her daughters Sara Lillian Gomez and Wanda Ballesteros. In addition to her daughters Mom added several branches to her limb on the Gonzales Family Tree. She said good-bye to six Grandchildren, fourteen Great Granchildren, and two Great Great Granchildren. Two Daughters-in-Law, Carmen and Hortencia Gomez, and many nieces and nephews. All totaled Mom added 24 branches to her limb on the family tree. Not to be forgotten she also leaves behind her baby pets Abby Lou, Douby Travis, and Rocky Rose.
We would like to invite Family and Friends to a celebration of Mom’s life at Camino del Sol Funeral Home, 200 North C Street, Oxnard on Sunday, March 21, at 12 Noon.
Our Family would like to thank the Staff at St. John’s hospital and Livingston Memorial for their caring attention to Mom during her final days. We would also like to thank our many family and friends for their kind words of condolence in Moms passing. She is greatly missed by all who loved her.
