JoAnn Bernal

Our family and the world lost a soul so pure, heart so big, and smile so bright. Our
family’s Wonder Woman, JoAnn, departed from this physical realm on Friday, April 23, 2021 at
61 years young.

JoAnn was born to Joe and Isaura Sanchez on September 21, 1959 in Pearsall, TX. She
was the second of seven children (Estella, Joe, Rudy, Lionel, Patricia, and Joshua). On August
22, 1981, JoAnn married Francisco “Frank” Bernal and the two eventually settled in Oxnard in
1988. JoAnn and Frank have four children, Telitha, Joseph, Stephen, and Lionel, and three
grandchildren, Aleena, Stephen, and Scarlett.

JoAnn enjoyed baking and cooking for the holidays and our whole family looked forward
to her desserts. Her favorite color was blue, she loved American flag décor, and she had a soft
spot for pugs. The greatest joys in her life were her children, grandchildren, and granddogs.
JoAnn was influential in many of our lives and displayed compassion, love, patience, and
strength so many of us aspire to have. She is truly the embodiment of honor and strength.
JoAnn has been welcomed into heaven by her father, Joe; brothers, Joe, Rudy, and
Lionel; sister, Stella; and beloved pug, Noah.

A service will be held for JoAnn at Camino Del Sol Funeral Home on Sunday, May 2,, 2021 with visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Due to COVID precautions, the service will be held outdoors, masks are advised, and no food or drinks will be permitted onto the premises.
